Who Should Play The Wasp? (WARNING: Possible Ant-Man Spoilers!)

After seeing Ant-Man, which is an awesome movie, see my review here (http://curtisandmovies.blogspot.com/2015/07/ant-man-small-movie-huge-fun.html), something has been running through my head lately. Now if you have not seen Ant-Man yet, I advise you to not read this post as there will be possible spoilers . If you have, go on and read. Otherwise, you have been warned. Anyways, in the movie, Hank Pym has said that Janet van Dyne, his wife and Hope's mother, was once his world saving partner The Wasp to his Ant-Man. But while one a mission to diffuse a Soviet nuclear bomb, Wasp went into "sub-atomic" mode in order to diffuse it. Now "sub-atomic mode" as explained in the film, is when one either uses the Ant-Man or Wasp suit to shrink to incredible miniature sizes till they are the size of particles. This goes to the point of entering another quantum realm where time and space are irrelevant and one keeps shrinking  for all eternity. Janet is presumed dead, but she isn't really, because in the movie we see Scott Lang go into "sub-atomic mode" in order to stop Darren Cross/Yellowjacket. But Scott uses a disk to make himself grow bigger and escape "sub-atomic" mode.  Hank tries to ask Scott about the realm he experienced because Pym has been studying the quantum realm for sometime in order to bring back Janet. Which leads to one of the few plot holes in the movie, if Scott used a disk invented by Hank to grow larger and escape sub-atomic mode, wouldn't that be a solution Pym should have figured out years ago. But anyways, the movie leaves a lot of room for Janet, the original Wasp. We do see in a post-credits scene that Hank has been working on another Wasp suit for Hope. But in another scene we see that Hank looks a picture of him, his Janet, and a baby Hope, but Janet's face and eyes is cleverly hidden by a large sun hat only leaving a smile, which leaves the role open for casting.

Now I do not know much about the character of Wasp in the comics, but in the animated TV series, Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes, and in other iterations, she has been portrayed as an outgoing, ecstatic, adventurous, witty, and spunky hero, a perfect and beautiful off set to her introverted, workaholic, and science driven partner/love Hank Pym. I would love to see how this kind of Wasp would work off of Michael Douglas' Hank. Now since time and space is irrelevant in "sub-atomic" she does't age or at least probably ages really slow. So a younger actress distant from Douglas' current age may be in talks. After some thinking about the perfect actress I see fits this role the best, my choice to play Janet van Dyne, the original Wasp in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is...

Anna Kendrick

I think Anna Kendrick would perfect for the role of Janet van Dyne because she fits that personality I described the Wasp to be so well. Now I know it maybe hard to see her in a superhero role, but her roles in films like Pitch Perfect and Into the Woods she proved to be a very entertaining, funny, and energetic actress who is great for these type of roles. She can provide a lot of the wit, energy, and snark that is in the Wasp character. In my opinion it would be treat.

Now for how Janet returns, here is my theory. Since while one is "sub-atomic" mode they enter a quantum realm. Now which Marvel hero, who has a solo film coming out next year has the power to go into other realms? Why Doctor Strange, of course! I do not see in a future Marvel or Ant-Man movie, Hank using some sort of science experiment to bring back Janet. Plus at the time of her disappearance, they were in the middle of the ocean, she could be anywhere. Only the Sorcerer Surpeme can venture into the vast unknown and into those areas where he might eventually encounter and rescue Janet in his own movie or in the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 and/or Part 2, where I know he will make an appearance. All if not most of the heroes within the MCU have to appear in those films.

What do you think of this casting? Agree or disagree? Who would you cast, and what do you think of the theory that Doctor Strange might eventually come across her? What theory do you have? Let me know! Till next time!
