RANDOM REVIEW OF THE DAY: Cat's Don't Dance (1997)

I know random isn't it. I bet many of you never even heard of this movie. And to be honest I can really see why, it isn't anything special. This is during the time where many animation studios (especially Warner Bros.) was trying to compete with the big dog at the time Disney. Though it is a clever idea but not original. It's kind of like Singin' in the Rain...with animals, hell the ending greatly resembles the ending of Singin' in the Rain. So what's the main problems with this movie, well, it isn't that original, the musical numbers aren't anything to scream about because they are highly forgettable, and the main character is a bore so those elements automatically make it a mediocre film. BUT, there are things I do like about it like the side characters are interesting and creative, and the main villain, a Shirley Temple from Hell named Darla Dimple, is HILARIOUS! She's like this Daffy Duck-esque character who is just purely insane, very mild mannered and hot headed, incredibly selfish and self-indulgent, and overall just cuckoo, which just makes her enjoyable. Clearly the movie should've been about her she's the most interesting character. But overall the film has a lot of problems that make it a bore and just plain mediocre. Not horrible just mediocre.
